Lida Vemmelpuu was a Finnish elementary school teacher and a member of the rst and second parliaments of the Finnish Party. She graduated as a teacher at the Finnish Postgraduate School in Helsinki in 1890 and received a certificate of privilege from Jyväskylä Seminary in 1903. Vemmelpuu worked as a governess in Sortavala from 1890 to 1892, as director of the West Finland Folk High School in Huittinen from 1892 to 1904 and as a primary school teacher in Huittinen from 1904 to 1924. She was active in the Huittinen Youth Society and was the first president of the women’s association founded in Huittinen after the 1905 Great Strike.

Vemmelpuu was a member of parliament for the Finnish party from 1907 to 1909 from the northern constituency of Turku county. She was also a member of the Huittinen Municipal Council. Vemmelpuu dropped out of the Parliament in the 1909 Parliamentary elections after coming in second place.
