Aura Kiiskinen 1878-1968
Aura Kiiskinen was a Finnish politician who served as a member of the SDP parliament from 1908-1911 and 1914-1918. After the Civil War, Kiiskinen fled to Soviet Russia, where he worked as a university and party school lecturer.
During the years of oppression, Kiiskinen participated in the activist movement by helping Russian revolutionaries cross the border and distributing banned printed matter. After joining the Social Democratic Women’s League, Kiiskinen worked as an agitator.In 1910 she attended the Women’s Conference of the Socialist International in Copenhagen with Ida Aalle-Teljo, Hilda Herrala, Hilja Pärssinen and Miina Sillanpää.
